What is Zi Wei Dou Shu?

Zi Wei Dou Shu is a traditional natal-chart system. Under a declared rule set it organises birth data into twelve palaces, major and auxiliary stars, si hua transformations, and luck periods. It is not a sun-sign horoscope, and it is not a single lucky-unlucky label for one star.

Calculation can confirm where a palace, star, or transformation lands under those rules. Symbolic meaning remains a conditional interpretation. Keep the actual placement, school differences, missing inputs, and real-world evidence in view.

A Zi Wei chart is a structure, not a list of independent star blurbs. Palace names move across fixed earthly-branch cells. Stars occupy those palaces. A theme is read with its trine and opposite palaces, not in isolation.

Why FluxAstro publishes its chart rules

A chart in this wiki is a calculated object, not a personality label. FluxAstro uses the iztro engine. The minimum inputs are birth year, month, day, hour, and gender. You may enter a solar date or a declared lunar date. The hour is converted into a two-hour branch; 23:00 is treated as late Zi.

Schools may differ on year boundary, leap months, true solar time, transformation tables, and some star-placement verses. The same surface inputs can therefore yield different charts. FluxAstro records the engine version and the settings that change results so a chart can be recalculated and compared.

A beginner reading order

Name the question and the topic palace. Then read the stars in that palace, the full three-harmony and opposite structure, si hua, and only afterwards the luck periods.

A responsible reading says which chart facts it uses, which conditions weaken the claim, and what remains uncertain. It does not turn one symbol into a fixed character or a scheduled event.

Safety boundary

Traditional symbolism is a conditional reading frame. It is not medical, legal, or financial advice, and a single star or palace cannot replace the full chart, the declared settings, and the timing layer.
